Alkenes Explanation:
Alkenes are a series of organic compounds consisting of carbon and hydrogen atoms where there is at least one carbon-carbon double bond. Alkenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons. Alkenes are also called olefins. They undergo addition reactions. Alkenes are acyclic (branched or unbranched) or cyclic hydrocarbons. General formula of alkenes is C NH 2n. Ethene,propene,butene, pentene, hexene, heptene, octene, nonene and decene etc are the names of alkenes depending on number of carbon atoms. Ethene is the simplest alkene. Alkenes are insoluble in water due to their nonpolar characteristics.
