Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) Explanation:
ATP is known as adenosine triphosphate. It is a nucleotide. It is an important biological molecule which plays a vital role. It has the ability to store and transfer chemical energy within the cell. Due to these characteristics it is known as "molecular currency" of intracellular energy transfer. ATP consists of adenosine - composed of an adenine ring and a ribose sugar - and three phosphate groups (triphosphate). ATP is highly soluble in water. It is stable in solutions between pH 6.8 and 7.4. If the PH is extreme then ATP is rapidly hydrolysed. The strength of the bonds between the phosphate groups in ATP is less than the strength of the hydrogen bonds.
