Common examples of bases include, calcium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, ammonium hydroxide etc. Bases react with acids to precipitate salts and this is called neutralization. Bases have a bitter taste and soapy feel on fingers. A method to identify bases is the use of litmus paper. Bases turn red litmus paper blue.
