Half Cell Explanation:
Half cell can be defined as the compartment in which the oxidation or reduction half-reaction occurs in a voltaic cell. We can say that it is an electrode containing both an oxidized and a reduced species. In order to form an electrochemical cell, two half cells must be combined. For example, in the Zn-Cu battery, the two half cells make an oxidizing-reducing couple.
