  • An interjection, also known as an exclamation, is a word, phrase, or sound used to convey an emotion such as surprise, excitement, happiness, or anger. Interjections are very common in spoken English, but they appear in written English as well. Capable of standing alone, they are grammatically unrelated to any other part of a sentence.

Interjections, a word used to tell us abruptly about the feeling of a writer. Whenever writer express feeling or some sudden reactions he may use some small but words with deeper meanings in order to arose the feeling of a reading or an audience he may use Interjections. It express the emotions of joy,sorrow,pain,excitement and so on. e.g OH, Wow ,Alas ,ouch,Oops,Eww are know as interjection. The main role of these small words is to give emotional effect to the text or to make text more reality base. For example "Hurrah! we won the game" it shows the emotions of joy. "Ouch! It hurts " it expresses emotions of pain. Interjection is divided into these types on the basis of way to express interjections in the sentence such as greeting, joy, surprise, approval, sorrow and attention.
