Actinorhizae Definition:
Associations between actinomycetes and plant roots.
Prescott's Microbiology 9th Edition by Joanne Willey, Linda Sherwood, Christopher J. Woolverton
Actinorhizae Explanation:
Actinorhizae are the associations and a symbiotic relationship between the fine plant roots and actinomycete. This symbiotic relationship results in the formation of root nodule. Actinorhizal plants are angiosperms and form a symbiotic relationship with actinobacteria i.e. Frankia. Due to this association, nitrogen-fixing root nodules are formed.
