Chlorophylls Explanation

Chlorophylls are the several related green pigments that are present in the mesosomes of cyanobacteria and in the chloroplasts of plants and algae. The name Chlorophyll is from Greek origin, (chloros: green, phyllon : leaf). It is essential for absorption of energy from light to carry out the process of photosynthesis. Light in the blue and red portions of the electromagnetic spectrum is most strongly absorbed by Chlorophylls, while the green and near green portions of the spectrum are poorly absorbed, which is reflected, giving the green colour to Chlorophyll containing tissues.
