Adhesion or bacterial adhesion is a process, which helps bacteria to adhere to other cells and surfaces, particularly the host cell surfaces. This process is important for bacterial colonization of a new environment or host and thus can lead to bacterial pathogenesis. This process involves some interactions between the microbial surface molecules and the molecules on the receptors of host cell.
