Allele Specific RNAi Explanation

RNAi (RNA interference) or sequence-specific posttranscriptional gene silencing, is induced by small double stranded RNAs, called small interfering RNA strands (siRNA). These siRNA duplexes have the ability of inhibiting the expression of a specific allele, without interfering with the expression of other alleles. This is called allele-specific silencing or RNAi.
