Allolactose Explanation

Allolactose consists of monosaccharides D-glucose and D-galactose linked through a β1-6 glycosidic linkage, to form a disaccharide, similar to lactose. It differs from lactose due to the linkage type, as lactose has β1-4 linkage. It may arise as a result of the occasional transglycosylation of lactose, by β-galactosidase.
